The TRSU's Go Wild Summer Camp partnered with BRACC to help teach mindfulness, survival skills, and developmental assets to the students.
Summer Camp Agenda
Week 1: “Basics of Fishing”
Mindfulness: Yoga (Tree pose, Squat pose, Child’s pose, Cobblers pose, Flower pose),
Activity 1: Basics of fishing
Activity 2: Basics of fishing
(Fish guide, identifying fish, how to tie a fisherman’s knot)
Week 2: “Let’s Go Fishing”
Mindfulness: Meditation (Bubble breaths, balloon breaths, butterfly breaths, rainbow breaths, bumble bee breaths, starfish breaths, sun breath, waves on the ocean breaths), “What Goes on in Your Head (student draws a picture of their head and the positive and negative things they think about”

Week 3: “Basics of Hiking”
Mindfulness: Therapeutic Coloring, Funny Icebreaker Questions
Activity 1: Developmental Asset Activity for 30 minutes (“Go Around Stories”-Building Community within the group p.g 20), Basics of Hiking for 30 mins
Activity 2: Developmental Asset Activity for 30 mins (“Go Around Stories”/Building Community within the group p.g, 20), Basics of Hiking
(What to bring hiking, non-perishable foods, compass, map, warm clothing)
Week 4: “Let’s go Hiking”
Mindfulness: Tree print with affirmations (Draw a tree and write down positive qualities about themselves), Form a circle and list off things I am good at, What I like about my appearance, I’ve helped others by, What I value the most, Compliments I have received, Challenges I overcome, Things that make me unique, Times I have made others happy.)
Activity 1: Hiking Trails at West Hill, Developmental Asset Activity (“Kindness Rocks Project for 30 mins”-positive identity/self-esteem)
Activity 2: Hiking Trails at West Hill for 30 mins, Developmental Asset Activity (“Kindness Rocks Project for 30 mins”-positive identity/self-esteem)
(Walk the trails behind west hill, trail maintenance, finding rocks for kindness rocks project, decorating the rocks.)
Week 5: “Having Fun in the Outdoors”
Mindfulness: Positive Experiences (Students get into groups to discuss times when they displayed courage, kindness, selflessness, love, sacrifice, wisdom)

Week 6: “Saying No to Peer Pressure”
Mindfulness: Making stress balls, “Annie’s Hand: Ways to stop unfriendly teasing
Activity 1: Developmental Assets Activity (Boundaries and Expectations-“Family Boundaries” p.g 55), make role play “Saying No to Peer Pressure”

Mindfulness: Writing (write a poem about growing older), write about a person you admire and why
