Ludlow Elementary School Mentoring Program

A  collaborative effort between the Ludlow Elementary School and Black River Area Community Coalition (BRACC) The LES Mentoring Program is a school based program under the auspices of Mobius, Vermont’s’ Mentoring Partnership program.

Mentors meet weekly with their mentee for an hour during school lunch time.  Activities range from reading to building an elaborate model sailboat to arts and crafts, to one-on-one soccer and basketball.  All mentors are background checked, receive training in appropriate interactions with the students and interactions occur under supervision of the school counselor.

In further testament to the success of the program, and in addition to the successful in school program, four mentor relationships have “graduated” to the community based program under the auspices of Rutland’s Mentor Connector where mentors and mentees are authorized to meet outside of school time.  Those are continuing matches that provide support to students as they mature through middle and high school and during the summer vacations.
